A 5-hour food walk with a specialist guide through the Central Market Hall, Lehel Market and Újlipótváros, finishing with a sommelier-led wine and cheese tasting including Tokaji aszú.
Get to know Hungarian food culture on foot with an English-speaking guide who specialises in food. Groups are capped at 8, or you can book privately. The walk starts at the Central Market Hall, Budapest's great covered market, where the local and seasonal produce introduces you to Hungarian cuisine. From there you explore neighbourhood markets such as Lehel Market, where chefs and locals shop, and the village-like Újlipótváros district, tasting your way down its liveliest street. Along the way you sample cured meats, chocolate, cheese and traditional cakes in an atmospheric coffee house. You walk through the Palace Quarter past the Hungarian National Museum to an independent wine cellar. There a sommelier introduces Hungary's wine regions with three wines, local spirits and cheeses, ending with golden Tokaji aszú. You also get exclusive discounts on wine purchases.
